Advanced control structures in modern regulated electric drives
Technical sciences/uniri projects 2018
The research includes work on the development of novel methods in the field of induction machines control, primarily including advanced vector control structures. This applies, among other things, to development and implementation of control structures for the Active Front End converters as well as to development and implementation of novel control structure to start a rotating induction machine after short period of power failure. This type of control is known in the literature as flying start and it is indispensable in electrical drives where frequent power outages occur. The proposed method should be integrated into power converter and should work on variety of induction machines.
The research is also focused on synchronous machines as generating units and key parts of power systems. Special focus of the research is aimed at developing new and improving the existing methods of the load angle estimation using modern algorithms.
Another field of the research is development and implementation of the novel advanced control algorithms for special types of electric drives which include bearingless motors. The research would also include manufacturing a novel type of bearingless motor in accordance to the current knowledge about bearingless motors design in order to experimentally verify the proposed control algorithms.
Particular emphasis of the entire research is placed on the practical applicability of developed methods and the possible transfer of knowledge in modern industrial plants and production units of the power system.
