Research projects 2025-2029
Digital Readiness and Enhancement for Advanced Manufacturing
Technical Sciences/uniri projects by experienced researchers
This research project will improve the assessment of digital maturity and develop a customized strategy framework for the digital transformation of SMEs in manufacturing.
In year 1, the project will focus on improving and refining the digital maturity assessment model. This will include a literature review and gap analysis to identify new methods to improve the existing model. Stakeholder feedback will be collected to validate the model and identify areas for improvement. A survey tool will be developed to collect data on the digital maturity of SMEs. Collaboration with industry experts will ensure that the model reflects current industry needs and best practice.
In year 2, the project will validate and refine the digital maturity assessment model. A survey of different SMEs will be conducted to collect data on digital maturity. A statistical analysis will be conducted to validate the model and qualitative insights will be gained through in-depth interviews with SME leaders. A digital assessment tool will be developed to enable SMEs to self-assess their digital maturity. Feedback from SMEs and industry experts will be used to further refine the model.
In year 3, the project will develop a comprehensive digital transformation strategy framework specifically tailored to SMEs in the manufacturing sector. The framework will be modular and flexible, addressing specific challenges and resource constraints. The framework will be designed to be adaptable to different SME contexts. Pilot implementations will be carried out with selected SMEs and feedback will be collected to further refine the framework.
In year 4, the project will focus on implementation, validation and dissemination. The framework will be refined based on case studies conducted with SMEs. Practical tools and guidelines for the implementation of the framework by SMEs will be produced. The project will culminate in the dissemination of results through academic publications, conferences and training materials to ensure wide uptake and impact.
